Aftercare

Aftercare
This aftercare procedure prevents the tattoo from scabbing, allowing it to heal more quickly, with less accompanying soreness and minimising drop-out. The longer the tattoo is covered, ie: 2-3 days or more, the less scabbing will occur - if the tattoo is allowed to dry and scab before completely healed, follow the 'Tattoo Aftercare' procedure.

Tattoo II Aftercare

Tattoo II Aftercare
Leave the tattoo covered for two hours then remove, wash gently in warm, soapy water and pat dry. The clingfilm cover will draw out a quantity of lymphatic fluid (lymph), pinkish in appearance. This is not blood, it is the fluid that would be seen weeping from a graze over several days before scabbing.
Re-cover the tattoo with a fresh piece of clingfilm and remove, wash and replace 2-4 times daily for 5-6 days, until healed. There is no need to apply creams and no scabbing will occur.
Avoid wearing garments that rub or chafe the tattoo as this may cause soreness and damage to the scab, which may affect the quality of the tattoo when healed, although the clingfilm cover will provide protection to some extent.
If the tattoo is not kept covered until healed, it will dry out and scab as normal (see Tattoo Aftercare), though the scab will be finer. Any waterproof cover applied at this stage will cause the scab to become too wet and may affect the quality of the tattoo when healed.

DO NOT expose to sunlight or allow dirt or grease to accumulate
until healed - this is an open wound !
DO NOT apply creams other than recommended.
DO NOT re-cover if tattoo is allowed to dry out and scab.
