Aftercare

Aftercare
This aftercare procedure allows the tattoo to form a scab, though care must be taken to ensure the scab isn't damaged as some patchiness or drop-out may result once the tattoo has healed.

Leave the tattoo covered for two hours then remove, wash gently in warm, soapy water and pat dry. The clingfilm cover will draw out a quantity of lymphatic fluid (lymph), pinkish in appearance. This is not blood, it is the fluid that would be seen weeping from a graze over several days before scabbing. There is no need to re-cover unless advised otherwize.
After a few hours the tattoo will appear dry, rough and feel hot and sore. A scab should begin to form within a day or two.
Apply a small amount of SAVLON cream lightly over the area three or four times each day until the scab has fallen away naturally. This should take about a week to ten days, depending on individual healing ability, location and size of tattoo.
Avoid wearing garments that rub or chafe the tattoo as this may cause soreness and damage to the scab, which may affect the quality of the tattoo when healed.
Don't use waterproof covers as the scab will become too wet and may affect the quality of the tattoo when healed.

DO NOT pick the scab, however tempting, as this WILL
affect the quality of the tattoo.
DO NOT soak in water, expose to sunlight, use waterproof covers or
allow dirt or grease to accumulate until healed - this is an open wound !
DO NOT apply creams other than recommended.
