Piercing Aftercare
Piercings generally take 2-4 weeks (tongue), 4-6 weeks (ear, nose, lip), 1-3 months (navel, eyebrow, nipple) to heal, varying with individual healing ability.
The following aftercare regime should be followed until the piercing has healed.
If the piercing has been covered, remove the cover after two hours. Some piercings may bleed slightly and should be washed clean gently in warm, soapy water.
Soak the piercing in salty water three times daily, for about five minuites, applying with cotton wool. Move up, down and side to side gently, to work the solution into the piercing. New piercings may weep a small amount of creamy/white coloured discharge while healing, just bathe the piercing as usual until it stops. If weeping occurs more often and the piercing becomes scabby/crusty during the course of the day, bathe 4-6 times daily. DO NOT pick scabs off as this will irritate the skin around the piercing.
Salt solution should be made up with one level teaspoon of salt to a full cup of cooled, boiled water and should be made fresh daily.
Avoid playing with, or moving the jewellery about when the piercing is dry as this may tear any new skin growing inside, giving the piercing no chance to heal, causing soreness and increased risk of infection !
Try to avoid knocking or catching the piercing as this may cause soreness and slow the healing process.
DO NOT remove jewellery until the piercing has healed.
DO NOT change jewellery for any inappropriate rings, studs, etc.

Remember, a clean piercing is a healthy piercing !
